March 31, 2006
During a meeting held in China's Xiamen earlier this week, telecommunications ministers of Japan, China, and Korea reached an agreement on strengthening cooperation in six areas, including next-generation mobile phone technology, open source software, Internet security, and IC tags. According to the agreement, the three countries will study the possibility of developing a unified next-generation mobile phone technology, which will have transmission speeds similar to those of optical fiber lines.
